C-U Cable and Telecommunications Commission

The Commission acts as an advisory body to the City Councils of Champaign and Urbana for the purpose of overseeing the construction, development and operation of the cable television system, and the administration of the CATV Franchise. The Commission performs, among other functions, the following: holds public hearings concerning applications for and renewal of a CATV Franchise, requests for rate increases and changes in services, then reports findings and recommendations to the City Councils, proposes regulations and arbitration procedures, advises the City Councils on matters which might be violations of the Franchise, resolves complaints and disagreements between the cable company and users of the CATV.
