Firemen's Pension Board

The Firemen’s Pension Fund Board of Trustees manages the Firemen’s pension fund as prescribed under Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Statutes of the State of Illinois.

Major activities of the fund include awarding of pensions and investing of funds until needed to make pension payments. There are five members on the board: two members are appointed by the mayor; two firefighters from the current workforce are elected by their co-workers; and a retired firefighter is elected by fellow retirees.

Meetings of the pension board take place quarterly, on the last Friday of January, April, July and October at 9:30am and  are open to the public. They take place in the second floor executive conference room of the City Building at 400 South Vine Street, Urbana, Illinois. Special meetings may be scheduled as necessary.
