Business and Development Incentives

The City of Urbana is an excellent place to live, work and do business.

The Urbana Economic Development Division administers several programs aimed at attracting new and improving existing businesses and commercial developments. These programs include economic incentives in the form of grants and redevelopment assistance. City staff will also provide detailed market information, conduct real estate searches, and give guidance throughout the development process. We are customer service oriented and look forward to assisting you by helping you find the right building, land, workforce, training, or anything else you need to be successful in Urbana.

Please contact the Economic Development Division at 217-384-2444 if you have any questions. Staff will assist you in reviewing the incentive programs to determine what is the best fit for your business or project.

Most of Urbana's incentives are funded through Urbana's Tax Increment Finance (TIF) Districts. Please see the Overview of TIF Incentive Programs to learn more.
