Florida Avenue Lane Closure

Weather permitting, the eastbound lane of Florida Avenue between Lincoln Avenue and Orchard Street will be closed for pavement repairs beginning 8:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013 through 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013.

Two detours will be maintained during this project:

  1. Southbound on Lincoln Avenue to Windsor Road, then east on Windsor Road to Race Street, then north on Race Street to Florida Avenue
  2. Northbound on Lincoln Avenue to Pennsylvania Avenue, then east on Pennsylvania Avenue to Race Street, then south on Race Street to Florida Avenue

The westbound lane of Florida Avenue will remain open at all times.

Beslin Street Closure

Weather permitting, Beslin Street from Romine Street to Goodwin Avenue will be closed to one lane of traffic starting Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 7:00 a.m. through Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. for pavement reconstruction.

Through traffic will be permitted during this time but will be restricted to one lane at the intersection of Mathews Avenue and Beslin Street.

Gregory Street Closure

Weather permitting, Gregory Street at Illinois Street will be closed to thru traffic from 7:00 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013 to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 for removal and replacement of steam tunnel.

There will be no detour.

Mathews Avenue and Eads Street Closures

Weather permitting, the Mathews Avenue-Church Street Improvement Project will begin construction on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Stage one of construction will close Mathews Avenue from south of Ellis Drive to the north edge of Beech Street and will close Eads Street at Mathews Avenue from July 9, 2013 to July 26, 2013.

Marked detour routes will be created utilizing Ellis Drive, Beech Street, Goodwin Avenue, and Romine Street. All dates mentioned are subject to change depending on weather and work progress. Further updates will follow as work progresses.

CLOSED Request for Proposal: Automotive Repair Services 2009 Ford Escape (Solicitation # 2223-03)

The City of Urbana is seeking proposals for automotive repair body shops to repair damages to the following vehicle or equipment: Year/Make/Model: 2009 Ford Escape Known/Observed Damages: Front end body repair and damaged radiator.

Proposals will be accepted from repairers until August 12, at 10:00 a.m. CDT.

Proposals must be submitted electronically (pdf format) to the Urbana Public Works Department, Fleet Supervisor via e-mail to tgcorry@urbanaillinois.us with the following format:

subject heading of "Company Name – Automotive Repair Services Proposal for City of Urbana – 2009 Ford Escape (MU02-09).”

The City of Urbana reserves the right to reject any and all proposals received.

The award of contract will be made by the Public Works Director, with recommendations from the Fleet Supervisor, and the decision will be final.

Tornado Damage-Residential Tree and Brush Collection

Debris Removal SUNA Storm 2019There was major tree devastation in a limited section of SE Urbana due to a tornado on Sunday, May 26, 2019. The City of Urbana is offering short-term, emergency tree and brush pick-up from private property to assist residents in recovery efforts.

WHERE: Area bounded by Race, Windsor, Philo, and Silver/Mumford.

WHAT: TREE LIMBS AND BRUSH DEBRIS ONLY. NO CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS OR LOGS OVER 10 INCHES IN DIAMETER. Per regulations of the Landscape Recycling Center, limbs must be 8 feet or shorter in length and 10 inches or less in diameter (plus brush and branches).

HOW: Place materials in the parkway near curb where it can be picked up by heavy equipment, away from mailboxes, vehicles, signs, light poles, fire hydrants etc. Do not place materials in the street.

WHEN: Tree limbs and brush must be placed in the parkway no later than June 4, 2019 to be included in this pick-up.
