The mission of the Urbana Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in the City of Urbana by working cooperatively with the community and within the framework of the Constitution to enforce the laws, preserve the peace, reduce the fear of crime, and provide a safe environment for all.

For the first time in 10 years, Urbana parking meters in the Campus and Hospital Districts increased from $0.75 per hour to $1.00 per hour on July 1, 2011.Meters will continue to accept coins at the following new rates:

On October 22, 2014, the Civilian Police Review Board requested that Urbana staff post the Urbana Police Department’s “Policy of the Issuance and Use of Conducted Electrical Weapons (a/k/a TASERS)" for written public comment.
