Prevailing Wage Act

The Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130/1 et seq.) requires contractors or subcontractors to pay prevailing wages to all laborers, workers, and mechanics who perform work on a public works project. Request for Proposal--Uniform Rental and Laundry Services and Purchase of Workwear and Apparel

The City of Urbana Public Works Department is seeking requests for proposals (RFP) for uniform rental and laundry services and direct purchases of workwear and apparel for its employees until Monday, April 30, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.  The RFP specifications may be obtained from the Urbana Public Works Department, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois  61802 or by downloading the file below.  Those who download the file are encouraged to check the site before submitting the RFP for any future corrections or addendum to the RFP.

CLOSED Request for Bid: Grass & Weeds Nuisance Abatement

The City of Urbana, Environmental Management Division, requests bids for removal of grass and weeds from properties that have failed to comply with City vegetation nuisance ordinances. Companies interested in performing these services must submit a completed bid form before 1:00 p.m. prevailing time on Monday April 23, 2012.

The selected Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, fuel, supplies, and transportation needed to perform the desired services. Services shall be provided on a request basis only. The program averages eighty service requests per year, although a minimum or maximum is not guaranteed.

Prior to award of an agreement, the City may require from the bidder, a detailed statement regarding the business organization and ability of the bidder to complete the work.

Information pertaining to financial resources, experience of personnel, available equipment, and previously completed turf care contracts may also be required. Minimum insurance requirements apply. Request for Bids: 2012 Miscellaneous Sewer Project

Sealed BIDS will be received until 2:00 P.M. prevailing time on APRIL 19, 2012 and opened and read aloud publicly at 2:05 P.M.prevailing time on APRIL 19, 2012 at the office of the City ENGINEER, 706 South Glover, Urbana, Illinois, 61802 for the furnishing of all materials, equipment and labor necessary for the 2012 Miscellaneous Sewer Repair Project (City Section 12-00514-00-SR) including rehabilitation of storm and sanitary sewers (point repairs) anticipated to occur in 2012-2014.


Point repairs include but are not limited to pipe installation and repairs, manhole replacement and rehabilitation, service connection repairs, riprap installation, pavement removal and replacement, backfilling and other miscellaneous related work throughout the City of Urbana.

Willow Road Street Improvements - Request for Bids

Sealed bids will be received for the construction of Willow Road Street Improvements (City Section 11-00502-00-PV) to construct a new Concrete street on Willow Road, north of Anthony Drive.  Bids will be received by the City of Urbana at the office of the Director of Public Works, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois 61802 until 1:55 p.m. prevailing time on Thursday, March 29, 2012 and then at said office will be publicly opened and read aloud at 2:00 p.m. on said date.


Plans and proposal forms may be examined and copies obtained at the office of the Director of Public Works, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois 61802 or from this posting.  Those intending to submit a bid proposal for the project must notify Joe Smith at the e-mail address below to receive addenda and other notices.
