Prevailing Wage Act

The Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130/1 et seq.) requires contractors or subcontractors to pay prevailing wages to all laborers, workers, and mechanics who perform work on a public works project. The purpose of this work is to install fiber optic cable to connect the Landscape Recycling Center Ticket Booth to the Arbor Division Shop, and therefore to the rest of the City’s network for computer and phones service. The scope of work consists of:

  • installing new conduit and pull boxes;
  • pulling fiber optic cables;
  • splicing into the existing fiber network;
  • preparing fiber optic connections to the interior of the facility;
  • and testing of fiber optic cables inside the facility.

The Bid Documents may be examined and copies obtained at the office of the City Engineer, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois 61802.

All bidders are required to provide current financial and experience statements or other prequalification documents to show satisfactory evidence of the bidder’s competency to perform the proposed work at the time the Contract Documents and Specifications are requested or picked up. The bidder must submit evidence of current prequalification with the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, bank draft, bank cashier's check or bid bond acceptable to the Owner in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount bid, payable without condition to the Owner as a guaranty that the Bidder, if awarded the Contract, will promptly execute the Agreement in accordance with the Proposal and the other Contract Document, and will furnish good and sufficient bond for the faithful performance of the work.

Deadline for quotes is 5:00 pm June 13, 2019. The quotes will be valid for two (2) years, beginning June 14, 2019.

Specifics/requirements are listed below:

  • Ammo must be factory new – no reloads.
  • Price per 1000 rounds of .45 ACP ammunition, 230 grain FMJ
  • Price per 1000 rounds of .40 S&W ammunition, 180 grain FMJ
  • Price per 1000 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 124 grain FMJ
  • Price per 1000 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, 55 grain FMJ
  • Shipping and/or delivery costs per 1000 rounds, or flat rate.
  • Ability to fill order with in-stock ammunition within 14 days of order (no back orders). Please note an order will be placed shortly after the deadline.
