Urbana Receives Additional Funds

The City of Urbana received $294,966 in CARES Act funding to be used to prevent, prepare, and respond to needs of low- and moderate income persons impacted by COVID-19.

"The funding needs to address gaps in service and not duplicate services provided by other agencies and federal/state funds," Sheila Dodd, Manager of the Grants Management Division for the City of Urbana, said.

The Federal Government allocated these additonal funds to meet emerging needs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Staff is working closely with local governments, surveying businesses, social service agencies, homeless service providers, economic development groups, Housing Authority of Champaign County, and Champaign Urbana Public Health District to identify community needs.  Staff is also looking to best practices throughout the country to identify programs," Dodd said.
