Our mission:  The Urbana Public Works Department promotes growth in the City of Urbana by maintaining, constructing and improving the City's infrastructure.  We preserve the quality of life for the citizens, visitors, businesses and government agencies (both within the City and in the surrounding areas).  Our department strives to provide prompt and courteous service in a professional, efficient and cost-effective manner to safeguard the safety, health and welfare of those we serve.

Beginning Wednesday, June 2, 2010, Goodwin Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Springfield Avenue and Clark Street.  Weather permitting, this road closure is expected to be in effect for 3 weeks.  Goodwin Avenue is expected to re-open on Friday, June 25, 2010. The City of Urbana has contracted with A&R Mechanical Services to perform full depth concrete street patching on Goodwin Avenue and various streets throughout the City.

Due to the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 31, all U-CYCLE collections will be delayed one day the entire week.  For example, Monday's route will be collected on Tuesday, and Tuesday's route will be collected Wednesday.Questions or for more information call Urbana Public Works at 384-2302.

The Urbana Arbor Division will have Race Street between Nevada Street and Oregon Street closed to through traffic for removal of a large Hackberry tree that is located at 702 S. Race Street. This tree is very large and a crane will be used in the removal process. Vehicle detours are:
