Our mission:  The Urbana Public Works Department promotes growth in the City of Urbana by maintaining, constructing and improving the City's infrastructure.  We preserve the quality of life for the citizens, visitors, businesses and government agencies (both within the City and in the surrounding areas).  Our department strives to provide prompt and courteous service in a professional, efficient and cost-effective manner to safeguard the safety, health and welfare of those we serve.

Department Posts

The City will be installing new storm sewer on Illinois Street between Vine Street and Walnut Street. One lane of west bound traffic on Illinois Street will be closed from Thursday March 25, 2010 to Thursday April 1, 2010 weather permitting. Illinois Street will remain open to thru traffic during the storm sewer installation. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Forget the first sightings of robins, we know that spring will soon be here when the Landscape Recycling Center (LRC) begins its summer schedule.  The LRC will be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning March 13.
