Our mission:  The Urbana Public Works Department promotes growth in the City of Urbana by maintaining, constructing and improving the City's infrastructure.  We preserve the quality of life for the citizens, visitors, businesses and government agencies (both within the City and in the surrounding areas).  Our department strives to provide prompt and courteous service in a professional, efficient and cost-effective manner to safeguard the safety, health and welfare of those we serve.

The City of Urbana has contracted with Cross Construction Inc. from Urbana to perform pavement resurfacing at various locations. The project award amount of $351,485 is funded with Capital Replacement and Improvement funds. The proposed improvements are located at select locations on:

On Thursday, July 4, 2019, the following streets in Urbana will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the Champaign County Freedom Celebration Parade and 5K race: Florida Avenue from the west City limits (Wright Street extended) to Busey Avenue Lincoln Avenue from Florida Avenue to Green Street Illinois Street from Lincoln Avenue to Goodwin Avenue Gregory Street from Illinois Street to Oregon Street We appreciate your patience while this event is underway.

U-Cycle collections starting on Thursday, July 4, 2019 will be delayed one day due to the Independence Day holiday.  U-Cycle collections on Thursday will be collected on Friday, July 5, 2019 U-Cycle collections on Friday will be collected on Saturday, July 6, 2019.   Questions may be directed to U-Cycle at (217) 384-2302.

Closed The Bid Documents may be examined and copies obtained at the office of the City Engineer, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois 61802. All bidders are required to provide current financial and experience statements or other prequalification documents to show satisfactory evidence of the bidder’s competency to perform the proposed work at the time the Contract Documents and Specifications are requested or picked up. The bidder must submit evidence of current prequalification with the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Closed The City of Urbana is accepting sealed proposals for the furnishing or delivering & installing materials required in the construction/maintenance for the 2019 Pavement Marking Project (Solicitation 1819-25). Bids will be received and at that time publicly opened and read at the office of City Engineer, 706 South Glover, Urbana, Illinois 61802 until 10:00 AM on June 27, 2019.
