Our mission:  The Urbana Public Works Department promotes growth in the City of Urbana by maintaining, constructing and improving the City's infrastructure.  We preserve the quality of life for the citizens, visitors, businesses and government agencies (both within the City and in the surrounding areas).  Our department strives to provide prompt and courteous service in a professional, efficient and cost-effective manner to safeguard the safety, health and welfare of those we serve.

Due to the Labor Day holiday, U-Cycle collections will be delayed for one day for the remainder of the week.  Monday's collection will occur on Tuesday, Tuesday's on Wednesday and so forth. Starting 7 am Thursday September 6th Philo Road will be closed between Marc Trail and the south corporate limits (approximately 1,250 feet north of Curtis Rd.), weather permitting, until November 2nd to allow for the reconstruction of Philo Road. Access to the First Baptist Church will be via Windsor Road to Myra Ridge Drive to Marc Trail. The church’s parking lot will be accessible during the road closure at all times. Access to the Deerfield Trails subdivision and South Ridge subdivision will be via Windsor Road to Myra Ridge Drive.

The City of Urbana will hold a Public Open House Friday August 17th, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Philo Road Church of Christ, 2601 South Philo Road to provide information concerning the upcoming Philo Road South Reconstruction Project. The Open House will be conducted on an informal basis; no formal presentation is planned. Exhibits, plans and aerial photography of the proposed improvements will be available for viewing during the entire time. Staff from the City of Urbana Engineering Division will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

A FREE countywide residential electronics recycling event will be held on Saturday, October 13, from 8 AM - 12 noon, at The News-Gazette Distribution Center, 3202 Apollo Drive, Champaign.
