Our mission:  The Urbana Public Works Department promotes growth in the City of Urbana by maintaining, constructing and improving the City's infrastructure.  We preserve the quality of life for the citizens, visitors, businesses and government agencies (both within the City and in the surrounding areas).  Our department strives to provide prompt and courteous service in a professional, efficient and cost-effective manner to safeguard the safety, health and welfare of those we serve.

Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be closing US 150/45 (University Avenue) and Lincoln Avenue at the Norfolk Southern Railroad crossing starting on Monday July 9, 2012. The crossing will be closed for seven to 10 days. The Norfolk Southern Railroad will be replacing the crossing during the closure. Motorists who regularly use US-150/45 (University Ave.) and Lincoln Ave. in this area are advised to follow the marked route detour or use alternate routes.

Weather permitting, Pankau Masonry will cause a partial lane closure of the eastbound lane of Elm Street from Broadway Avenue to Vine Street from 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2012 to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 for placement of equipment to be used for work on the Federal Courthouse.Thru traffic will be maintained although delays should be expected.We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Proposals will be received at the office of the Director of Public Works, City of Urbana, Illinois for STREET AND PUBLIC PROPERTY TREE INVENTORY AND TREE INVENTORY DATA MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE until 1:30 p.m. prevailing time on Friday, July 13, 2012.Any firm desiring to be considered to provide such proposed services shall submit proposals in accordance with the instructions and format of the RFP documents.The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive irregularities or technicalities.
