Our mission:  The Urbana Public Works Department promotes growth in the City of Urbana by maintaining, constructing and improving the City's infrastructure.  We preserve the quality of life for the citizens, visitors, businesses and government agencies (both within the City and in the surrounding areas).  Our department strives to provide prompt and courteous service in a professional, efficient and cost-effective manner to safeguard the safety, health and welfare of those we serve.

Illinois American Water Company will be repairing a water main leak at the intersection of Washington Street and South Vine Street starting at 11:00 pm Thursday April 12, 2012 through 5:00 pm Tuesday April 17, 2012. The City of Urbana, Environmental Management Division, requests bids for removal of grass and weeds from properties that have failed to comply with City vegetation nuisance ordinances. Companies interested in performing these services must submit a completed bid form before 1:00 p.m. prevailing time on Monday April 23, 2012.

The City is making a storm sewer repair on Sunnycrest Drive between Anderson Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. Sunnycrest Drive will be closed to all through traffic beginning at 7:00 A.M. on Wednesday April 4, 2012 to Monday April 9, 2012 at 5:00 P.M. weather permitting.All residents along Sunnycrest Drive from Anderson Street to Cottage Grove will be able to access their properties during the sewer repair
