Our mission:  The Urbana Public Works Department promotes growth in the City of Urbana by maintaining, constructing and improving the City's infrastructure.  We preserve the quality of life for the citizens, visitors, businesses and government agencies (both within the City and in the surrounding areas).  Our department strives to provide prompt and courteous service in a professional, efficient and cost-effective manner to safeguard the safety, health and welfare of those we serve.

The City of Urbana will restrict parking and close several streets to thru traffic for the Illinois Marathon, which will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Urbana Street Closing Information: All street closings will begin at 6:00 AM. The entire route will be closed by 6:30 AM. (Traffic will be pulsed across the route when possible). The following streets will re-open at these approximate times:

Sealed proposals for supervision, labor, tools, equipment and services required to perform tree stump removal and related work in the public right-of-way will be received and at that time publicly opened and read at the office of Director of Public Works, 706 South Glover, Urbana, Illinois 61802 until 1:00 PM on August 2, 2018.

On Sunday, July 22, 2018 Philo Road between Windsor Road and Curtis Road will be closed from 5:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. for the Mile at the Pines Races. The intersection of Curtis Road and Philo Road will also be closed to through traffic during this time. We appreciate your patience and cooperation while this event is underway.

Weather permitting; West Oregon Street will be closed to thru traffic between South Gregory Street and South Goodwin Avenue from 6:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 through 4:00 p.m. Saturday July 7, 2018 for removal of a tower crane by Custom Service Crane for the University of Illinois. No thru traffic will be permitted on West Oregon Street between South Gregory Street and South Goodwin Avenue during the project. Access will be maintained to all properties along West Oregon Street.
