UPTV Wins Regional Awards
The City of Urbana is pleased to announce that Urbana Public Television will receive three awards at the 6th Annual Best of the Midwest Media Fest and Awards Banquet. The banquet recognizes the best community access television programs in the Midwest.
Urbana High School senior Joey Wright will be recognized for his production of the UHS Fall Sports Preview Show. Joey has been broadcasting Urbana High School sporting events and graduation ceremonies since 2015.
“Joey has shown great work ethic over the past four years. I’m thrilled to see him recognized on a regional level for his talents and can’t wait to say, I knew him when…” commented UPTV Production Coordinator, Jason Liggett.
UPTV community producer Jacob Bernard will receive an award for the fourth straight year as he is being recognized for his work producing video of Los Guapos’ performance on WEFT Sessions.
“From his initial work as a volunteer, through internship and now as a part-time camera operator, he has proven time and again that he has great instincts and great production skills,” commented UPTV Station Manager, Jake Schumacher.
The City of Urbana’s Jason Liggett will receive an award for his production featuring the Urbana Fire Department’s Rhonda Foster.
“This video is a great example of how the City is working across different departments to help tell Urbana’s story. I couldn’t have scripted better responses than Rhonda Foster provided during our interview. The Human Resources Department also played a huge role in coordinating this production,” said Liggett
The Media Fest Banquet and Show will take place on Thursday, May 10th in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Liggett will also be a featured speaker during the event.
