Urbana Public Works bids retirees well

The City of Urbana Public Works Department said good-bye on August 30 to Will Abbott and Tony Arnold.

City of Urbana Mayor, Diane W. Marlin, proclaimed the day, "Will Abbott Day," and "Tony Arnold Day."A big celebration was held at Urbana Public Works with a luncheon, cake and ice cream and a presentation of gifts to Abbott and Arnold.

According to Barb Stiehl, Assistant to the Public Works Director, Abbott worked at the City for 33 years, beginning in 1985. Arnold worked for 23 years, starting in 1995.

"Will began as a Forestry Technician, moved into the Forestry Supervisor position and retired as the Traffic Signal Technician, "Stiehl said. "Tony was hired as a Certified Mechanic, and he was appointed as Fleet Manager when Larry Fredrick retired."

The City of Urbana wishes them both a happy and long retirement.
