City of Urbana municipal buildings will limit public access beginning Monday, March 23, 2020 at 7 am.

In order to keep City employees healthy and maintain staffing levels necessary to continue to provide core services, the City of Urbana will take steps to limit public access into city-owned buildings. This includes the main municipal building located at 400 S. Vine Street and the Public Works building located at 706 S. Glover Street. City employees will continue to work inside both buildings, but all entry ways into the inner areas of the buildings will be locked. Therefore, City departments located inside both buildings will not be accessible to the general public.

There are telephones located inside the entryways into the buildings. Citizens will have access to these phones in order to make contact with staff inside the buildings during normal business hours. After business hours, the phones located in the vestibules at the main municipal building will be answered by METCAD 911 staff.

If a citizen needs to contact a specific city department during business hours, please call that department first. The general phone numbers for each City department are as follows:

  • City Clerk’s Office: 384-2362
  • Community Development Services: 384-2444
  • Finance: 384-2346
  • Fire: 384-2420
  • Human Resources 384-2458
  • Mayor’s Office: 384-2456
  • Police: 384-2320
  • Public Works: 384-2342
Further staff contact information and information pertaining to specific City department procedural changes can also be found on the City of Urbana website at www.urbanaillinois.us

As always, in the event of an emergency, call 911.
