SOLD!

On Thursday, November 1, 2018, the City of Urbana sold the property located at 1301 East Washington Street, commonly known as the Tri Star Building, at auction to Ed and Michelle Salfelder for $18,000. The auction was held in the City Council Chambers at the Urbana City Building, 400 South Vine Street, Urbana, Illinois.

“We plan to develop a neighborhood-friendly restaurant, with some retail space added to the build, as well. We want to add something positive for the neighborhood. Something that will be engaging for the residents in the area,” Ed Salfelder said.

Mayor Diane Marlin noted that the sale creates an opportunity for new investment in the Philo Road corridor.

“Neighborhood-oriented retail and service uses will activate this lot at the corner of Philo Road and Washington St. This parcel was designated for Community Business in the 2005 Comprehensive Plan. The Salfelders’ plans align with the City’s goals for that area,” Mayor Diane Marlin said.

Ed Salfelder said that they will be actively seeking tenants for the new development. The Salfelders also own the adjacent Silver Bullet Bar.

Thanks to John Kunich, who was the auctioneer at the sale.
