Public Dedication for the Art in the Park Installation Designed by John David Mooney

The City of Urbana cordially invites you to a public dedication for the Art in the Park installation designed by Champaign County-born and internationally acclaimed artist John David Mooney.

  • Date: Sunday, October 14, 2012
  • Time: 5-7 p.m.
  • Location: Just north of the Urbana City Building at 400 S. Vine Street (corner of Green Street and Vine Street)

Light refreshments will be available and brief comments by Mayor Prussing and the artist, John David Mooney, will begin at 5:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Draft Climate Action Plan Open House

Your input is needed! Join us Tuesday, October 2 at 5:00 p.m. for public review and comment. 

The City of Urbana’s Draft Climate Action Plan Phase 1 will be made available to the public at an open house preceding the Sustainability Advisory Commission meeting Tuesday, October 2 at 5:00 p.m. in the City Building, 400 South Vine St. Urbana, IL.

City staff will be available to answer your questions on strategies proposed in the Phase 1 Plan. Light refreshments will be served. The Sustainability Advisory Commission will begin their regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. the same evening.

Lincoln Elm Tree Dedication

The City of Urbana is celebrating its connection with Abraham Lincoln. Come join Mayor Prussing and Alderman Dennis Roberts in dedicating Urbana’s Lincoln Elm Tree and commemorative plaque (pictured below) at 5:30 PM on Monday, September 17, 2012, at the Urbana Autozone at 606 East Main Street.

LIGHT THE NIGHT 2012

FREE BIKE LIGHT GIVEAWAY

Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 4-8 PM

Bring your bike without a light to one of two locations and our team of volunteers will install a set free of charge. Light sets will only be installed on bicycles without lights; lights will not be given to individuals.

Locations:

 * Corner of Wright & Green Streets, at Alma Mater statue

 * Corner of Lincoln Avenue & Illinois Street, near ISR

Stuff the Bus - Urbana Drop Off Site

In an effort to help the United Way of Champaign County with their “Stuff the Bus” promotion to help meet needs in our community and to help agencies with frequently needed items, the City of Urbana has agreed to be a drop off site for donations in Urbana.
