Water main work began March 13, 2017.  Street reconstruction work began May 22, 2017.  An overall staging plan is available for download below.  Detailed staging plans are also available for download below.

Impacts to Pedestrians, Bicyclists and Motorists:

March 13, 2017 to May 21, 2017 - Completed

Green Street will remain open to two-way traffic during installation of the water main.  Pedestrian traffic midblock in front of the Illini Union will be maintained.  During spring break (March 18, 2017 to March 26, 2017), two-way eastbound lanes may be closed and detoured.

May 22, 2017 to (End Date revised from August 25, 2017 to September 1, 2017 due to state budget shutdown in mid-summer 2017) - Road Opened to Two-way Traffic September 1, 2017 - Completed

Green Street will be closed to through traffic from Wright Street to Goodwin Avenue.  Truck access will be maintained to Engineering Hall north of Green Street.  Vehicular, delivery, and ADA access to the Illini Union and Harker Hall will be maintained.  North-South pedestrian traffic at the Illini Union will not be maintained during this time period.  North-South pedestrian traffic will be maintained on one side of the Wright Street/Green Street and Mathews Avenue/Green Street intersections.  North-South vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be maintained at the Mathews Avenue/Green Street and Goodwin Avenue/Green Street intersections.  East-West bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be maintained on one side of the street.

The direction of traffic on Mathews Avenue will be reversed during this time period from one-way northbound to one-way southbound.  On-street parking will remain on Mathews Avenue.  Note, the direction of traffic on Mathews Avenue is scheduled to be changed from one-way southbound to one-way northbound on the morning of September 6, 2017

August 26, 2017 (Beginning Date revised to September 5, 2017 due to state budget shutdown in mid-summer 2017) to (End Date revised from November 3, 2017 to November 13, 2017 due to state budget shutdown in mid-summer 2017) - Completed

Green Street will remain closed from Mathews Avenue to Goodwin Avenue.  North-South vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be maintained at the Mathews Avenue/Green Street and Goodwin Avenue/Green Street intersections.  East-West bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be maintained on one side of the street.

Green Street will remain open to traffic between Goodwin Avenue and Busey Avenue.

November 14, 2017 to March 5, 2018 - Winter Period - Completed

Green Street is open to two-way traffic from Wright Street to Busey Avenue.  Green Street from Goodwin Avenue to Lincoln Avenue traffic is on north half of roadway.

Signal Work at the Lincoln Avenue and Green Street intersection occurred during this time period.

March 6, 2018 to Project Completion - Underway

Green Street is open to two-way traffic from Wright Street to Goodwin Avenue.  Green Street from Goodwin Avenue to Lincoln Avenue is one-way eastbound.  Green Street between Lincoln Avenue and Busey Avenue is open to two-way traffic.

Pedestrian traffic may use the sidewalk on the south side of Green Street between Goodwin Avenue and Lincoln Avenue.
