Main Street Stop Sign Installation at Smith Road Intersection

Between the period of Monday, September 18 and Friday September 22, 2017, an all-way stop will be installed to control traffic at the intersection of Main Street and Smith Road.

In addition to the stop sign for southbound traffic on Smith Road, eastbound and westbound traffic on Main Street will be regulated by stop signs. Notification signs will be placed on Main Street in advance of the installation of the stop signs to advise motorists who frequently use that route.

The Urbana City Council approved the installation of stop signs on Main Street after reviewing the results of a traffic study performed by City staff, which warranted the installation of stop signs on Main Street.

Those traveling along Main Street and Smith Road are advised to stay alert and drive carefully when in the area.
