Police Chief Morgan retires
Sylvia Morgan has served in many capacities, including patrol officer, narcotics inspector with the Illinois State Police, and criminal investigator over 25 dedicated years of service in the protection and service to the public.
Acting Police Chief upon her retirement will be Bryant Seraphin. He said she has served in many ranks, including patrol sergeant, temporary lieutenant, Street Crimes Unit sergeant, Deputy Chief of Police, and most recently Urbana City Police Chief.
Notably, she was also the first-ever female Chief of Police for the City of Urbana. Morgan wanted little fanfare about her retirement. “I’m really looking forward to traveling and spending time with my kids,” she said.
