UPTV Wins Regional Awards
The City of Urbana is pleased to announce Urbana Public Television will receive six awards at the 8th Annual Best of the Midwest Media Fest and Awards Banquet. The banquet recognizes the best community access television programs in the Midwest.
UPTV Producer Andrew Scolari will be recognized for his work on WPGU’s Rollin’ Illini. Scolari produces a video version of the popular radio program centered on athletes with impairments. He works with University of Illinois students Josh Joines, Miles Hill, and Avery Schaefer who serve as hosts of the show. Rollin’ Illini can be heard on WPGU 107.1FM Friday evenings at 6:00 p.m. during the school year. The video is broadcast Wednesday evenings on UPTV.
“It’s been great to see Andrew develop as a media producer over the last few years. He has worked his way up from intern to producer to a paid staff member. This recognition is well deserved,” commented UPTV Station Manager, Jason Liggett.
Liggett will be honored for his work on five other productions:
The Media Fest Banquet and Show will take place on Thursday, October 1 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Liggett will attend to accept the awards. This is the 7th straight year UPTV has been recognized.
