Christmas Tree Collection Schedule

The City of Urbana will provide Christmas tree collection to all residents for one week this holiday season:

January 7 - 11, 2019 

Residents must follow these requirements:

  1. Place tree along curb (on the parkway) by 6:00 a.m. on  your regular U-Cycle collection day
  2. Remove all decorations, lights, tree bags and stands from tree before collection
  3. Trees that are flocked or have tinsel are not accepted!  No artificial trees accepted. 

Trees may be taken to the Landscape Recycling Center at 1210 E. University Ave., Urbana, for FREE recycling

Property Tax Levy Public Hearing - City of Urbana

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT the City Council of the City of Urbana, Illinois will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2018, in the City Council Chambers of the Urbana City Building, 400 S. Vine St., Urbana for the purpose of receiving public comment regarding the 2018 Property Tax Levy.

U-Cycle Collection - Thanksgiving Holiday

U-Cycle will not collect on Thursday, November 22, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  Route collections for Thursday will be collected on Friday, November 23.  Route collections for Friday will be collected on Saturday, November 24.

U-Cycle Collection

U-Cycle is following the regular recycling route collection this week, November 12-16.  As a reminder, the U-Cycle program observes the following six (6) holidays annually: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

South Cedar Street Closure

Weather permitting; South Cedar Street will be closed to thru traffic between West Green Street and West Illinois Street from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day on Tuesday, November 13 through Thursday, November 15, 2018 for a fiber optic installation for AT&T done by Blu Jay Communications.

No thru traffic will be permitted on South Cedar Street between West Green Street and West Illinois Street during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully around this area.

Washington Street Closure

Weather permitting; West Washington Street will be closed to thru traffic between South Birch Street and South Cedar Street from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7 and Thursday November 8, 2018 for a tree removal project done by Trimmed Up Trees Inc.

No thru traffic will be permitted on West Washington Street between South Birch Street and South Cedar Street during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Closed - Request for Letters of Interest: Professional Services for Stormwater Master Plan (Solicitation 1819-11)

The City is seeking Letters of Interest to provide the City of Urbana with professional services for stormwater planning.

Professional services will include but not be limited to surveying, engineering, and planning for the production of a document to guide the City’s future efforts towards stormwater management, stormwater infrastructure, and water quality improvement practices.

The Letter of Interest shall include the information listed in this document:

The City intends to use a qualification-based selection process for the procurement of these services. Critical factors in that selection will include responsiveness of the Letters of Interest, description of approach to the services, relevant project experience, qualifications of the responding firms and principal assigned staff, readiness to undertake the required services, and client references.

Griggs Street Closure

Closed - Request for Proposals: 2018-2020 City Owned Parking Lot Snow Plowing (1819-10)

Sealed proposals will be received by the City of Urbana in the lobby of the office of the Director of Public Works, 706 Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois, 61802 until 2:00 p.m. prevailing time on Thursday, November 1st 2018 for the plowing of snow on City owned parking lots. The Proposal shall be publicly opened and read aloud at 2:05 p.m. on said date.

The RFP documents may be examined and copies obtained at the office of the Director of Public Works, 706 Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois.

This contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible Bidder considering conformity with the terms and conditions established by the City of Urbana in the Proposal and contract documents. The City of Urbana reserves the right to reject any and all Proposals, to waive any irregularities or informalities in the bids, to re-advertise the proposed improvements, and to make any award deemed to be in the best interest of the City of Urbana.
