The City of Urbana has contracted with Denler, Inc. to conduct a pilot project using Biorestor Asphalt Rejuvenator to perform street maintenance on North Lincoln Avenue in the City of Urbana as shown on the attached map.

Lincoln Avenue Speed Limit Reduced to 25 MPH Between Nevada Street & Pennsylvania Avenue

Date:
August 31, 2018 - 5:00pm

Effective immediately, the speed limit on Lincoln Avenue between Nevada Street and Pennsylvania Avenue is 25 miles per hour. The reduction in the speed limit was approved by the Urbana City Council after City staff conducted a traffic study along the corridor and recommended the reduced speed limit to improve safety in that area.

Although this roadway is adjacent to, but not considered part of the University District, the speed limit reduction is consistent the with University District mission “to better accommodate pedestrian, bicycle, transit, and vehicle movements in a more user-friendly environment.”

Also recommended as part of the study is the installation of flashing enhanced pedestrian warning signs at the north and south ends of the corridor to draw attention to the increase in pedestrian traffic in the area. The installation of the flashing enhanced pedestrian warning signs will occur as part of a later project.
