PARIS – The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that weather permitting; work will begin on Monday, May 2nd on I-74 from a half mile west of IL 47 in Mahomet to a half mile west of I-57.
The project includes 7 miles of patching, milling and resurfacing as well as safety upgrades. Milling and resurfacing will also be done on the I-74 ramps. A Work Zone Smart Traffic Monitoring System will be used on this project. It will encompass the use of multiple changeable message signs and traffic sensors throughout the I-74 corridor from Mansfield to the US 45 (Cunningham Avenue) exit.
There will be lane width restrictions of 12' 6" due to drop offs. Motorists should stay alert, follow all signs and be cautious of flaggers, workers and equipment using median crossovers and trucks entering and leaving the job site.
Please slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones.
