STORM DAMAGE

CONCLUSION OF RESIDENTIAL TREE LIMB AND BRUSH COLLECTION

There was wide spread tree devastation in Urbana due to a major storm on Thursday, June 29, 2023.  Public Works crews have worked through the entirety of the City addressing many high volume areas more than once. Supervisors have been canvassing the City systematically and assembling a list of any debris within the acceptable parameters that may have been missed.  The City of Urbana’s emergency tree limb and brush pick-up, as defined in the June 30, 2023 press release concluded at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023.

Residents with remaining debris may take materials to the Landscape Recycling Center at the regular disposal cost or utilize a private hauler.

Additional information for the Landscape Recycling Center is available at: https://www.landscaperecyclingcenter.org/

Storm related efforts will continue with additional resources being diverted to street sweeping and City-owned tree hazard abatement. Urbana Public Works crews have performed in excess of 1500 regular and overtime labor hours directly related to this effort. These employees will be returning to regular planned maintenance activities including, but not limited to, pavement maintenance, systematic sewer cleaning, facilities projects, mowing, sign maintenance, and scheduled arbor/landscape tasks.
