New Feature: Report a Crime

UPD Logo Effective January 1, 2019, the Urbana Police Department will change how it takes some crime reports on lower dollar value incidents. Crime reports on these incidents will now be accepted via a web based report form. This change is intended to make the reporting of incidents more convenient for the reporting person and make more efficient use of our on-duty officers.

The web-based report will now be self-served. This means that you will now be able to file a police report “on demand” without having to wait for a police officer to come and gather the information to complete the report. The police report has been designed to be simple to complete and provide us with the information needed. When your report is completed, you will be able to easily submit it to the Urbana Police Department. The submission will use the same website used to complete the report and will be fast and the information will be secure.

Updated Design Announced for Townhome Project at 200 South Vine Street

Green Street Realty and the City of Urbana are pleased to announce an updated proposal and Development Agreement for a new townhome development at the 200 block of S Vine St in Downtown Urbana.

The City and Green Street Realty announced in October 2018 that they had entered into a Letter Of Intent to redevelop the 200 block of South Vine Street into a 42-unit townhome development. After listening to community feedback on the initial design, Green Street Realty has updated the project design.

“We appreciate the thoughtful feedback and comments from the community related to the project. Green Street Realty made significant changes in design and exterior building materials in response to these comments and we’re pleased with the final proposal,” Urbana Mayor Diane Wolfe Marlin said.

New Development Proposed at Lincoln and University

Proposed Development "Gather" at University and Lincoln in Urbana, IL Dallas-based Rael Development Corporation and the City of Urbana are pleased to announce a proposal for a new mixed-use development at the intersection of University and Lincoln Avenues in the City of Urbana called Gather. Gather will contain approximately 200 apartments, 16 townhomes and 50 extended-stay rooms, along with nearly 15,000 square feet of lobby, retail and outdoor public areas. The project’s configuration, scale and design are the product of much analysis and collaboration between the developer, the City and Rael’s team of consultants.

Urbana Arts Grants Program

Grant applications for the 2019 Urbana Arts Grants cycle are now available and contain some exciting news!

Urbana Public Arts Program and the Urbana, Illinois - City Government are proud to have $80K available in funding for the 2019 cycle.

We have small, mid-sized, and larger grants available, along with our Arts in the Schools Grants and a brand new Poet Laureate Program at the City of Urbana!

Applications are due Fri. Feb. 15th, 2019!
