2023 Mayoral Recognition Program a Success

The Mayoral Recognition Program ceremony, held in the Urbana School District #116 high school gymnasium, was a huge success.

Besides the program, there was also a Student Resource Fair and entertainment from the UHS Guard, A Capella, the Jazz Combo, and the Royal Diamond and Step Team.

Almost 100 students were recognized for OVER 5,000 hours of service to our beloved Urbana.

This amount of student service has greatly increased in this second year of the program. These are our future leaders, and we are very proud of their service: Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County homes built, new voters were registered, blood drives were organized – and blood was donated – food was served and distributed, streets were cleaned, kids were mentored and tutored, and that's only the beginning of their service.

Mayor Diane Wolfe Marlin said it best, "These students gave love to our community."
