National Parent Involvement Week

Date:
November 15, 2010 (All day) to November 19, 2010 (All day)

Urbana School District #116 encourages parents, teachers and staff to participate in National Parent Involvement Week, November 15-19. Schools understand that parents are busy people, but during Parent Involvement Week the district will be highlighting the many different ways parents can get involved in their child’s education.

No matter how little or how much time we have, there are many ways to positively impact a child’s education at school and at home. Volunteering and attending school functions are important and valuable ways to get involved, but playing a role in students’ success begins at home. Urbana School District encourages parents to ask your child about school, review homework and make time for meaningful dinner conversations, trips, games, reading time, and daily routines. Teachers, staff and administrators will help in this process by maintaining good communication with parents and creating a warm, welcoming place for parents, families and community members.
