In times of crisis throughout history Champaign County's community gardens have served a dual purpose - providing healthy food and building a sense of unity and care.   Katie Snyder of the Museum of the Grand Prairie will tell us about the surprising history of Victory Gardens in Champaign County, a tradition that goes back over a century.

We'll also learn about Solidarity Gardens with Traci Barkley and MJ Oviatt of Sola Gratia Farm.  Solidarity Gardens is the new local community gardening initiative that brings together our schools, park districts, farmers, the Cunningham Township and more.  The Urbana Free Library is proud to support this initiative with our very own Seed Library.

Join us each week at the corner of Vine and Illinois Streets for Urbana's Market at the Square!  

There will be lots of fresh items, even in the early months, to come on out and see. Items include (but are not limited to): From the ground: asparagus, cabbage, cherries, greens, leeks, lettuce, onions, peas, spinach From the pasture: chicken, beef, bison, lamb, pork, turkey, chicken eggs, goat milk, goat cheese From the kitchen: artisan breads, donuts & pastries, pasta, honey, hot sauce, popcorn, preserves, salsa, sauces and more! Please note: We try to stay up-to-date with what our vendors have, but as always, nature has the final word.
