The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that night work is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 until 6:00 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012 to replace reflective pavement markers on I-74, between University Avenue and I-57 in Champaign County.  If necessary, additional work will occur during the same times on Sunday and Monday nights, July 29 and July 30. The project includes replacing the reflectors that distinguish the lane lines in the pavement of the interstate.  The number of lanes on I-74 will be reduced as work progresses.

The Urbana Champaign Sanitary District’s contractor Insituform will doing sewer lining as part of the District’s annual sanitary interceptor maintenance program.  In order to line the sanitary sewer interceptor pipe portions of Springfield Ave and Main Street will have to be shut down to through traffic. This work is scheduled to start on July 24, 2012 at 8:00 am and end August 7th at 5:00 P.M. weather permitting. Traffic will be affected on the following streets during the cleaning and lining work:

Shaw Brothers Construction will be completing street repairs for water main work at two locations in Urbana. Starting Tuesday July 17th at 7:00 A.M., weather permitting traffic on North Broadway Avenue will be reduced to one lane at Franklin Street. Kerr Avenue between North Broadway Avenue and Berkley Avenue will also be reduced to one lane of traffic for that time period. The North Broadway Avenue and Kerr Avenue lane closures are anticipated to be completed by Friday July 20th by 4:00 PM.

The Illinois EPA will conduct a one-day household hazardous waste (HHW) collection event in Champaign-Urbana on Saturday, September 29, from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The City of Urbana, Environmental Management Division, is looking for a company to do case by case hauling and disposal of nuisance abatements for properties that have failed to comply with City ordinances. The City of Urbana will receive proposals at the Public Works Center, 706 S. Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Bids will be accepted up to and no later than 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 27th, 2012.
