Battery Recycling Drop-off Locations (Household Quantities Only)

Battery Recycling Requirements (Batteries are not accepted from schools, businesses or institutions) - LARGE QUANTITIES MUST COME TO URBANA PUBLIC WORKS

Certain battery types must have end terminals taped before deposited into the battery recycling collection tube - the battery types that need to have ends taped with scotch tape include 1) all rechargeable batteries 2) button cell batteries and 3) lithium batteries.  Alkaline batteries do not need to be taped.

Urbana has five (5) battery recycling drop-off locations:

Anita Purves Nature Center
1505 N. Broadway Ave., Urbana

Phillips Recreation Center
505 W. Stoughton St., Urbana
*Take the MTD 13N Silver, 13S Silver, 10W Gold, 10E GoldHopper

Urbana City Building
400 S. Vine St., Urbana  (Vine Street entrance)
*Take the MTD 5W Green, 5E GreenHopper

Urbana Free Library
210 W. Green St., Urbana  (First floor near circulation desk)
*Take the MTD 5E Green, 5E GreenHopper, 5W GreenHopper

Urbana Public Works
706 S. Glover Ave., Urbana
*Take the MTD 2U Red, 2C Red

No Car or Truck Batteries Accepted

No Batteries Over 5 lbs Accepted
